South beach diet which has been developed by an American cardiologist is popular for the way it focused on taking away fats from carbohydrates. This means you only consume carbohydrates which will be useful in adding nutrients and energy but eliminating carbohydrates which not provide those benefits.
The basic principle of South Beach diet is taking away useless carbohydrates and fats consumption and limiting the fat consumption only for unsaturated fat that can be obtained from olive oil and canola oil.
